I was listening to a podcast this morning. It was an interview between Oprah Winfrey and Nate Berkus. In talking about loss and losing those we love, Oprah said:
It’s a reminder to us to turn up the volume on life.
This touched me in a deep, soulful way. It was exactly what I needed to hear. Too often I find myself at the start of another week thinking “wow, that week went really fast!” With a sense of ground hog day. Like I’m doing the same thing day in and day out.
Instead of truly appreciating this gift of life. Even more than that, truly appreciating the gifts I have within. The gifts we all have within us. The unique blend of skills and talents that make you, YOU. We need to be sharing them with the world.
And not just once and a while, but every day. Every single day. Turning up the volume. Being the kindest, most caring, best possible version of yourself.
Each day, making a commitment to follow your heart and do what makes you happy.
Recognising that every day you have the freedom to CHOOSE. So choose what makes your heart sing.
It’s a shame that it takes great loss to be reminded that time is precious. But ultimately, you don’t realise what you actually have until it is taken from you. When time runs out, you’ll probably think that for most of your life you squandered it.
So today make the decision to turn the volume up in your life. Choose to make today a spectacular day. Choose to do something that makes your heart sing and your soul fly!
